National Trust Act - 1999

Its Implementation in District Faridkot.

The Centre Govt. has set up a National Trust under the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Govt. of India for the welfare of persons with Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Mentally Retardation and Multiple Disabilities. Indian Red cross Society, Distt. Branch, Faridkot (Punjab) is one of the NGOs in the whole country who has got the approval and sanction of the National Trust, New Delhi to start a Relief Institute under the Grant-in-aid scheme. The Distt. Administration and Distt. Red Cross Branch have already initiated steps to implement the provisions of Act as Under.

Formation of Local Level Committee

The committee has been Constituted w.e.f. September, 2001. as under:

Applications for Guardianship

The Local Level Committee has received four applications for guardianship. The parents and guardian of the disabled persons who have attained age of 18 years are being made aware about the right of guardianship under the new Act.

Education and Awareness Programme

The Distt. Red Cross and the District Administration has jointly launched a massive programme for the dissemination of information about the Act to the Doctors, Para Medical workers, NGOs, Schools, Colleges, Parents Associations, Youth Clubs, Anganwadi Workers and Association of Disabled Persons

 A seminar on the theme, Disabilities: its Causes, Prevention and Rehabilitation, with special focus on National Trust Act. was held 21-12-2001 at Baba Farid Cultural Centre, Faridkot
